My Story
My journey into counselling has been shaped by a genuine passion for understanding people and supporting them through life's challenges. I began my career in fashion design and arts management before moving into training, education, and project management within the charity and public sectors. For more than 20 years, I worked with young people and adults from many different backgrounds, helping them develop the skills and confidence they needed to move forward in their personal and professional lives. Alongside teaching, I spent many years coaching and mentoring individuals as they navigated personal challenges, overcame barriers, and discovered their own strengths.
My passion for helping others grow led me to become a Learning and Development Consultant, where I continued supporting individuals to realise their potential through lifelong learning and personal development. This naturally evolved into working within systemic practice with individuals, couples, and families, deepening my understanding of how our relationships, life experiences, and childhood can shape the way we think, feel, and relate to ourselves and others.
Today, I am a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor and the founder of Lightway Counselling. I believe that everyone deserves to be heard, understood, and accepted without judgement. My role is not to tell you what to do or who you should be, but to walk alongside you as you explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at your own pace. I offer a warm, compassionate, and confidential space where you can feel safe to be yourself, whether you are facing anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, grief, loss, life transitions, or simply feel that something isn't quite right.
My approach is grounded in Person-Centred Counselling and informed by systemic practice. This means I recognise that every individual is unique while also appreciating how family relationships, cultural influences, past experiences, and generational patterns can shape our lives. Together, we can gently explore these influences, helping you gain greater understanding, self-awareness, and the confidence to make meaningful and lasting changes.
I am proud to offer an inclusive practice where diversity is welcomed, respected, and celebrated. Whatever your background, identity, culture, beliefs, or life experiences, you will be met with empathy, authenticity, and respect.
Taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting, but you don't have to do it alone. If you're looking for a supportive space where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered to move forward, I would be honoured to accompany you on your journey.
Warm regards,
Lola
